SHOT BLASTING
Steel
shot is available in many sizes and hardness ratings, each
selected for accomplishing a different surface preparation
task.
Improving metals surfaces to a desired specification, or
simply cleaning or stripping unwanted materials from a part
are all uses for steel shot. The polished finish of the
metal part will be influenced by the shot size and grade.
SHOT PEENING
Steel shot is commonly used for a process called
peening, which results in the hardening of the metal’s
surface. This is commonly used for hardening turbine
blades in aircraft engines, crankshafts in many types of
machines, or heavy duty springs.
The density and hardness of steel shot allows it to be reused
many times longer than any other type of media, also creating
a dust free working environment.
Always wear appropriate personal protection equipment
when operating machinery of any kind.
